Beef with Broccoli Recipe

Beef with Broccoli is an Asian beef main dish. As the name suggests, this dish is mainly comprised of beef and broccoli combined with different sauces for that delightful Asian flavor.This simple recipe is so easy to follow. I would suggest though that you use beef sirloin or tenderloin to
ensure that your dish will come-out tender. If in case you don’t have them around and opted for another less tender beef part, it would help if you slice the meat thinly and pound it with a meat pounder.

Beef with Broccoli Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef sirloin, sliced thinly across the grain
  • 2 cups broccoli, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, finely minced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch, dissolved in 1 tablespoon water
  • 3 cups water (for blanching)
  • Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon rice wine
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • ½ beef cube dissolved in ½ cup water

Marinade

  • 2 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 2 teaspoon rice wine
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Cooking Procedure

  1. Combine all the marinade ingredients in a bowl then marinate the beef for at least 20 minutes
  2. In a separate bowl, combine the ingredients for the sauce and stir well. Set aside
  3. Pour the water in a cooking pot and let boil.
  4. Blanch the broccoli for a minute.
  5. Remove the broccoli from the cooking pot and soak in ice water for 10 to 20 seconds then drain excess water. Set aside
  6. Apply high heat on a wok or a frying pan then pour-in cooking oil when the pan is really hot.
  7. Put-in the beef and arrange so that all the slices directly touches the pan. Allow to cook for a minute.
  8. Flip the beef and allow the other side to cook then put-in the garlic and cook for a minute.
  9. Pour-in the sauce and bring to a boil.
  10. Add the broccoli and cook for a minute.
  11. Stir-in the cornstarch (diluted in water) and cook until the sauce thickens.
  12. Serve hot with rice. Share and enjoy!

  3. I like your show.Im learning how to cook..I want to cook the beef broccoli,but I dont have the rice wine..What would be the alternative ingredient to use?

    • Hey, it’s so easy to get rice wine. If you’re living in US, just go to google map and search SF supermarket, or A&A supermarket, or Korean, Japanese, ..any type of Asian supermarket.

      It’s cheap too, I bought the same bottle in the video for 99cent, lol

  4. Thanks for this upload.This is one of my favorites!Every time i eat at the Chinese Restaurant,i always order this.I wanna try this soon but i don’t have rice wine and oyster sauce yet…any substitute?or i really have to follow all the ingredients to come up with the taste?

  5. It’s different sig. I used Chinese cooking rice wine for this.

  6. You can cook this without the rice wine, magkakaroon lang ng difference sa flavor but will still taste fine.

  14. hi, thanks for sharing ur recipes. just want to know kasi, with regards sa beef minsan tough sya so wat we do is to pressure cook it, mag iiba ba ung steps ko if gamitan ko ng pressure cooker? please help.. i keep coming back to ur site to try new dishes, dont know much about cooking but thanks to ur site really! my husband is a meat lover…need to try new dishes para mabago naman minsan. thanks again.

    • Rafael, you don’t need to make your own rice wine. A product called cooking rice wine is already available in the market. Hope this helps.

    • mahirap tlgng hanapin rice wine, usually sa chinese place mo
      un mahahanap. pero pedeng gamitin/substitute ang gin.
      apple juice nmn for non-alcohol.
