How to Make Sweet Tea

What is Sweet Tea Made of?

Like all teas, sweet tea is made with tea bags and hot water. It is usually sweetened with sugar, but some prefer honey and maple syrup. After the tea bags have been steeped and tea is ready, it is cooled and bottled. The flavor of sweet tea is largely dependent on the type of tea bags you use. You can learn how to make sweet tea with fruity, flowery and even chocolaty infusions.

Health Benefits of Sweet Tea

Sweet tea has sugar, whether itโ€™s from natural or processed sweeteners. Because of this, it can provide an energy boost when you need it. Tea is, of course, also full of antioxidants. The types of antioxidants vary from tea to tea, but they all have the potential to fight diseases and prevent cancers. Most teas have small amounts of calcium, magnesium and zinc, which are all helpful in strengthening the immune system, bones, teeth and muscle.

Actually you’ll find that comparing the sugar content in your above mix and the amount of sugar added to “branded” “iced” teas in the supermarket shelves are miles apart. You can prepare your own healthy mix with the “natural” amount of sugar but stay away from the industrial concoctions! They largely contain water, sugar and citric acid, however, tea is more of an afterthought.
