Tuna Sushi Roll is a type of Sushi made from shari (cooked rice with vinegar) and raw tuna. This is also known as Tekkamaki.
Tuna Roll can be done in many ways. There are versions wherein the nori covers the entire roll, while others are rolled in such a way that the nori stays inside – just like California roll.
could call this Cake Sushi. I am using cake pan to form the rice; avocado and smoked salmon sushi are the ingredients that I am using as decorations to make this look like an ordinary cake.
The rose that you see in the picture is made from smoked salmon sushi. It is easy to make a rose shaped salmon; all you need to do is slice the smoked salmon into 2 inch length then gently roll with one hand until a rose shaped figure is formed.

California Roll or California Maki is a sushi roll that is made inside out. Crabstick, avocado, and cucumber are placed in the center of the nori while the flattened sushi rice with sesame seeds is on the opposite part. This is then rolled using a bamboo mat and pressed to maintain the shape.
Though sushi is a traditional Japanese food, California Roll was first made in Los Angeles, California in the late 60’s and became popular from then on.
So why feature a foreign food? Well, Filipinos are very flexible people. We can adapt to anything easily and get used to it if done all the time. Same goes with our palate and food preferences, it ceases to be foreign once it becomes a part of us.
