It is advised that consumers boil beans for at least 10 minutes. This is because black beans contain a chemical called phytohenagglutinin. This substance can be toxic if you ingest a certain amount.

To remove toxicity, cook black beans in rapidly boiling water. If your recipe requires more water, use boiling rather than cold or lukewarm water. You should also avoid slow-cooking beans. Slow cookers don’t produce enough heat to remove the toxic substance properly.
Pre-soaking

Just boil the beans in hot water for 2 minutes and set them aside to sit for a couple of hours in the water before cooking them. Please note that soaking them this way can cause them to break.

    Is this black beans a good alternative to rice in champorado?

      I’m sorry, but it is not. It is mainly composed of rice, so any type of rice can be a good alternative.

    I would like to learn more lasang pinoy cook recipe that a simple ingidients may need. Easy to understand cooking but, the very difficult is the classes of ingridients that is not easy to buy and unfamiliar.
