A great tasting chili dish with a “Bite”: this is the ideal food to serve to your guests when watching football and baseball games.
Ingredients:
2 pounds of extra lean ground beef.
1 can (28 oz) kidney beans, drained
1 can (28 oz) navy beans, drained
2 cans (28fl oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (14 oz) tomato sauce
3 packs Old El Paso Chile mix or a comparable brand (39/g ea. approx depending on the brand)
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
3 to 4 oz drained hot banana peppers.
1 cup celery, finely chopped
1 cup carrot, finely chopped
1/2 piece red bell pepper, finely chopped
1/2 piece green bell pepper, finely chopped
Procedure:
1. Put all ingredients in a 5 to 6 qt Crockpot, and mix well.
2. Cook on low setting for 6 hrs. The longer the cooking time, the better it will get.
3. Serve hot with crusty or garlic bread and a beer or two.
Makes at least 10 to 12 hearty servings
Note: You may put the leftovers in the freezer for future use.
