Whar is the cornstarch for? Can I do without it?

Kylie, cornstarch thickens the sauce. It adds texture to the dish.

Where can I find beef/chicken cubes?
Vanjo Merano says
They are available in most supermarkets in the Philippines and here in the US. You may also want to substitute beef cube with 1 cup of beef broth, but you will need to omit the 3/4 cup water in the recipe.
Lori says
When do you add the cornstarch?
Vanjo Merano says
Lori, should be in step 7. Good catch!
Vanjo Merano says
Yes, you can use chicken for this recipe.
