If you recall, I published a similar recipe for ginataang tilapia. I used fresh tilapia for that recipe. It was as delicious as this version. I think that the fresh tilapia version has a milder taste though.

Fried Tilapia in Coconut Milk Recipe

Making your own Fried tilapia in Coconut Milk is easy. Start by sautéing garlic, onion, and ginger in oil. This gives the dish an appetizing aroma. The coconut milk is added next and cooked until it boils. You will need to let the coconut milk boil for a while before adding the tilapia and pepper. Chili peppers are optional. Add this if you want your dish to be spicy. Season with fish sauce and then add the malunggay leaves last.

This is a recipe for Fried Tilapia in Coconut Milk

Ingredients

  • 1 to 2 pieces fried tilapia
  • 1 piece banana pepper
  • 3 pieces chili peppers optional
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 5 cloved garlic crushed
  • 1 medium red onion sliced
  • 2 thumbs ginger chopped
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons fish sauce
  • 2 cups malunggay leaves
  • 3 tablespoons cooking oil

Instructions

  • Heat oil in a cooking pot.
  • Sauté garlic, onion, and ginger
  • Pour the coconut milk in the pot. Let boil.
  • Add the banana pepper and fried tilapia. Cover and cook in low heat for 15 minutes.
  • Add chili peppers and dish sauce. Stir. Turn the fish over. Cover the pot and then continue to cook for 10 minutes.
  • Add the malunggay leaves. Cook for 5 to 8 minutes.
  • Transfer to a serving plate.
  • Serve. Share and enjoy!
