Fried Pork Chop Sinangag at Itlog Breakfast

The name Pork Chop Silog pertains to oven baked pork chop that was semi-fried, while ”SiLog” is a short term used for both Sinangag and Itlog. The pickled papaya in this recipe is just a bonus that is nice to have.

The link to the recipe of garlic fried rice (sinangag) is provided below, as well as the link on how to make papaya atchara. The procedure on how to cook oven baked pork chops are detailed below. The process is simple and easy. Beginners should be able to prepare this as long as a conventional oven is available.

How to Make Oven Baked Pork Chop

Making oven-baked pork chop requires two cooking methods: frying and baking. The pork chop needs to be seasoned with salt and pepper. I usually let it stay for more than 10 minutes before starting to cook so that the meat absorbs the flavor.

The next step is to start heating oil in a pan. The pork chop needs to be pan fried first before baking it in the oven. Dip the pork chop in beaten egg and then dredge in flour before frying. It only takes a minute to fry each side of the pork chop (use medium heat). Pan-frying is necessary to provide a nice texture and color on the crust of the pork chop. The meat gets cooked completely later after it is baked in the oven.

Pork Chop Silog with Atchara

I like to have this with banana ketchup. It makes a perfect heavy breakfast meal. It is also a good idea for lunch. You can eat this at home or take it with you as a packed lunch meal.

This meal looks similar to crusted pork chop with adobo rice. The difference is the way the pork chops were cooked and the type of rice. Both versions are good and deserves to be tried.
