A huge part of what I love about making noodle dishes is that there’s so much room to experiment. Noodles can be somewhat like a blank canvas because they have a pretty mild flavor to begin with. And so for this recipe, I decided to make the most of a Pinoy favorite that’s sure to be familiar for many. Want to try this All Out Pancit Canton?
What does all out pancit canton taste like?
The classic Pancit Canton recipe already feels like a feast of various flavors in and of itself. And so imagine that but with an even more exciting taste and mix of ingredients! With this recipe, I’m integrating a ton more vegetables— from bell peppers to cabbage to carrots. And for meat, we’ve got both delicious chicken breast and Chinese sausage for a somewhat sweet and salty tone to our dish. You’re using that and more to create the most enjoyably savory and smooth noodles for your next big gathering!\
Ingredients in this Special Pancit Recipe
Pancit canton noodles
You really can’t have this dish without 350 grams of pancit canton noodles to serve as the base for all of our lovely ingredients.
Knorr shrimp cube
Since we’re utilizing a seafood favorite for our recipe, we also really want to emphasize the unique flavor of shrimp in our noodles. That’s why you’ll be needing 1 Knorr shrimp cube.
Shrimp
And ½ lb. of shrimp will also come in handy. But first, you have to take out the head and the shell of each one. Also look at the flesh of the shrimps when you’re buying them. They should be firm, while being free of any black spots.
Chicken breast
Off to our meat components, get 3 ounces of chicken breast. Then slice this up.
Chinese sausage
We will also need to slice our 2 links of Chicken sausage. And since we want the best quality for our ingredients, I would suggest selecting the ones with a deep red color when you’re purchasing this at the market.
Squid balls
Some mildly salty squid balls are also great for this recipe. Add 6 of these, and then cut them into halves.
Oyster sauce
A little can really go a long way with some velvety, delicious oyster sauce. Just have 2 tablespoons ready.
Soy sauce
This is responsible for the rich, savory taste of many of our favorite dishes. Make sure to incorporate 4 tablespoons of soy sauce.
Parsley
To give more life to the flavors we’ve got involved, we’re also using 3 tablespoons of chopped parsley.
Onion
Go ahead, and slice 1 onion for this too.
Garlic
Up next, we’ve got 4 cloves of garlic, which we must also crush.
Water
And for our boiling process with the noodles, you will need 8 cups of water.
Cooking oil
Another essential to this dish is 3 tablespoons of cooking oil.
Salt and ground black pepper
And you can add as much salt and ground black pepper as you prefer! So prepare as much as you’d like for cooking our pancit canton.
Vegetable ingredients:
As I said earlier, we’re using plenty of delightful vegetables for this recipe! Here’s a rundown of what you’ll need:
Red bell pepper: 1 piece you’ve sliced
Green bell pepper: 1 piece you’ve sliced
Cabbage: ½ head you’ve chopped
Carrots: 1 cup, which should be julienned
Snow peas: 3 ounces
How to Make All Out Pancit Canton
Cook the pancit canton noodles
Boiling water – Get your pot, and pour the water inside. Apply some heat, until you get the water boiling. Then you can sprinkle in some salt.
Adding the noodles – Once they’re inside, you should let this cook for 2 minutes. Then just set this aside.
Blanch the vegetables
Putting the vegetables in our boiling water from earlier – Place your red bell pepper, green bell pepper, cabbage, carrots and snow peas in the pot. Keep them there for 1 to 2 minutes.
Soaking the vegetables in ice cold water – We will transfer the vegetables in another container with the cold water, and let them stay there for 30 seconds. This blanching process is great for keeping all of the nutrients of our veggies intact!
3. Sautéing and preparing the rest of our ingredients
Sautéing onion and garlic – Start heating up some oil in a new cooking pot. Then add your onion and garlic so you can sauté them until the onion gets soft.
Adding other ingredients – Now we can also put our chicken breast, squid balls and Chinese sausage inside. Proceed to sauté these as well for a good 1 to 2 minutes. After that, it would be time to integrate the shrimp. Continue cooking everything for a minute more.
Season and add the noodles
Pouring in some liquid seasonings and water – Now you just need to put the soy sauce, followed by the oyster sauce and 1 cup of water in the pot. Wait for this to boil before adding the Knorr shrimp cube.
Adding the pancit canton noodles – Stir everything together before you carefully place the pancit canton noodles inside. Toss this gently into your mix of ingredients, and then also put your parsley in the pot.
Cooking the noodles with our seasonings – Put the cover on top, and set the heat between low and medium. Let’s just keep cooking everything until it is well done, which may take about 2 to 3 minutes. But make sure that the noodles don’t get soggy nor dry. You can just pour in more water if the latter is the case.
Add the blanched vegetables
Adding blanched vegetables – Just toss in the veggies from earlier, and mix them well into the noodles. Afterwards, you can just season with salt and ground black pepper to your taste.
You’re ready to serve now! Just place everything in a plate of choice, and make sure to add some calamansi or lemon wedges on the side for a refreshing twist.
