There is nothing like having a bowl of hot Creamy Chicken Sopas to make you feel warm and comfy on a cold day, especially during this time when the temperature outside starts to get chilly. This recipe should be able to help you cook a delicious sopas that you can serve to the entire family.
This Creamy Chicken Sopas Recipe makes use of boneless chicken breasts and hot dogs. You may use bone-in chicken breast with skin too. Just make sure to remove the bones later on while you are shredding the meat. The hotdogs are nice to have. It also helps makes the dish look colorful and festive.
It is important for chicken sopas to be flavorful and have that nice solid chicken taste. This is one of the reasons why I am using chicken cube for this recipe. The evaporated milk, on the other hand, makes this soup dish rich and creamy; it also a distinctive ingredient that makes Filipino chicken macaroni sopas unique from other chicken noodle soups.
How to Cook Chicken Sopas
Prepare the chicken
Start by preparing the chicken. Boil for around 18 minutes or until fully cooked. You will need to shred the chicken meat afterwards. Make sure that the chicken cools down before shredding.
Saute the ingredients
There is sauteing involved in the process. Heat oil and start to saute the garlic, onion, celery, and carrot. These ingredients brings-in flavor to your chicken soup. Add the shedded chicken and hotdog slices. Note that the use of hotdog is optional.
Add the chicken stock and cook until the chicken is done
Pour the water used in boiling the chicken earlier. You will have the leverage when using this because it is already infused with chicken flavor. Add the chicken cube for a more solid chicken taste. This makes a difference.
Cook the macaroni and add the other ingredients
The macaroni cooks next. Make sure to add more water if needed. Sometimes the pasta absorbs more liquid than expected. Add cabbage and milk. Season with salt and pepper. It is that simple. Beginners will love this recipe.
Chicken Sopas with Milk
Milk makes this chicken sopas version rich and creamy. I am using evaporated milk for this recipe. Alternative ingredients for this type of milk includes fresh milk, powdered milk mixed in water, and whipping cream.
I recommend that you try to consume your sopas in one sitting. If there are leftovers, chances are that the macaroni will absorb the liquid overtime. You will have a bloated macaroni noodle dish the next day with almost no liquid left. You can add more water and milk, but this can make the macaroni soggy.
What is Chicken Sopas, and where did it come from?
It might be easy to disregard soup as your ordinary, run-of-the-mill side dish you can mostly have with more outstanding meals. But Chicken Sopas simply isn’t a dish you should be setting aside. This is definitely a fantastic recipe to learn how to make because it contains various nutritious ingredients that you need for one meal. And they’re all conveniently placed in one bowl.
Chicken Sopas is a macaroni soup with a subtle creaminess that we get from evaporated milk. This goes incredibly well with our meat componen— some boneless chicken, and of course, our delicious produce. Crunchy chopped celery, diced carrots, and sliced cabbage are just some of the vegetables you’ll find in this dish. As such, it is a great way to integrate vegetables into your children’s meals probably without them protesting.
This meal is also very convenient for anyone who might be having trouble getting their meals down to their stomach properly, or are struggling with eating solids. As such, Chicken Sopas is quite well-known for being a great dish to have when you’re feeling under the weather. It won’t take much energy to chow down on this delicious soup. Speaking of, the name, in itself, is “soup” if you translate it in Filipino. It comes as no wonder, then, that we’ve adapted it from a foreign soup recipe.
With the introduction of chicken noodle soup from American cuisine, we were able to adjust the taste of this recipe to our palate. The result is quite the meaty and hearty dish with a good deal of hotdogs and elbow macaroni. But because we’ve integrated so many new different ingredients to it, including our wide selection of vegetables, it also introduces a good number of health benefits!
How is eating Chicken Sopas good for the body?
As mentioned earlier, Chicken Sopas is not one to skimp on ingredients that would be great to have on a daily basis. For one, the macaroni in our recipe is an excellent source of carbohydrates. Like rice and pasta, this is an important component for you to keep you from wearing out more quickly in your day. Carbs, after all, give you that energy you’ll need to get moving.
Additionally the chicken that we get to consume in this dish is actually quite rich in nutrients as well. Vitamin B is present in this ingredient, And so you can expect it to help your immune system largely, as well as control your digestive system better. And of course, it is a great protein source.
While meat and pork are also pretty good options, white meat is a smart way to have your protein without as much fat content. If you’re conscious about fat in chicken as well, all you’ll need to do is strip the skin away. This ingredient can also give your body more serotonin. With this, you can better maintain an overall happier mood because of its high tryptophan content.
What are some of the health benefits of the vegetables in Chicken Sopas?
Of course, you can’t forget about the components that can truly make this dish glow. Vegetables such as cabbage are filled with several vitamins and minerals. For one, cabbage is a terrific source of folate and Vitamin B6. These play a big role in maintaining the nervous system, as well as your body’s energy metabolism process. It also has a great deal of fiber, which would be very helpful to one’s digestive system.
Carrots are also rich in beta-carotene. This has anti-inflammatory properties, and it has been shown to help reduce the possibility of having diabetes. And like cabbage, it is a good source of fiber, which means it’s also quite the ideal ingredient for you if you’re keeping an eye on your blood sugar levels.
Popular for being an excellent dish to have when you’ve got a bad case of colds or fever, this dish is great not just because of its ingredients. Because we mostly eat it nice and hot, this can be great for your body when you have cold symptoms. The steam coming from the heat can lead to those clogged airways opening up a bit more.
How can I store my Chicken Sopas properly?
Like many other savory dishes— especially those with savory stews— storage for Chicken Sopas mainly involves an airtight container and your refrigerator. Simply take this container, and pour your soup inside it. But before we toss it in the fridge, make sure that it’s not hot anymore. Once you refrigerate it, it will be good for consumption for about 3 to 4 days.
Of course, you could use the same technique but have your soup for longer by freezing the sopas. Simply store it in either an airtight container or a heavy-duty freezer bag, and put this inside your refrigerator.
I hope that’s cleared up a couple of questions you might have about the wondrously comforting and creamy Chicken Sopas! But if you have any more queries, don’t hesitate to ask away in the comments below.

My girl was craving sopas and I found this recipe. We added chicken broth vs water with cayenne pepper because we enjoy a little spicy with our soup. She loved it and I got some points.

If you use corned beef instead of chicken it’s not chicken sopas anymore. It’s called corned beef sopas.
