Easy seared scallops is a quick and relatively easy appetizer recipe. This can be enjoyed just as it is or by dipping in lemon butter sauce. Aside from being an appetizer, this can be consumed as a main dish along with some greens on the side.
I am using packaged sea scallops for this recipe. I chose medium-sized scallops because they are quicker to prepare. Remember (if frozen) that you will need to thaw the scallops first before attempting to start this recipe.
Preparing this dish is very basic. You need to melt the butter in a pan and then add some olive oil. The oil is needed because it prevents the butter from being burnt, which means that you can cook any ingredient longer than the smoking point of butter.
This seared scallop recipe can also be made into a pasta sauce. All you will need to make is the white sauce (usually Alfredo or carbonara) and then add-in the seared scallops at the end. Another way to make this go a notch higher is to wrap bacon around it, like this bacon wrapped scallop dish.
