Pork Giniling Recipe

Pork Giniling is a pork dish that makes use of ground pork as the primary ingredient. Ground pork is stewed in tomato sauce and water to bring out the taste while vegetables such as carrots and potatoes (some also like this with raisins and green peas) are added for additional flavor and nutrition.

This can be considered as a staple dish in the Philippines when ground pork is concerned. I think that it is fair to say that Filipinos are into pork giniling as much as Americans are into chili. I have 2 ways of preparing this dish, this is the first while the other makes use of guisantes or green peas and raisins – boiled eggs are out of the picture.

I like this dish because of its simplicity. As a person, I tend to appreciate the simple things in life. I am not a minimalist; I just find serenity and lesser stress if I stick on to the basics. Don’t get me wrong; going the extra mile is a good thing but if I can accomplish what needs to be done with lesser effort and time then that’s the way that I’m going.

Do you like Pork Giniling? How do like this done? Let’s enjoy life through good food.

Happy cooking!

This is one of my go-to recipes and instead of using tomato sauce and pork/ meat cubes, I usually use spaghetti sauce and some tomato ketchup. Haven’t tried adding some eggs.

    Thanks for sharing!

It’s good but it could have been better if the exact measurement of salt and pepper is shown or specified.

    hi,

i’m a disaster at cooking. my family actually dreads it whenever I attempt to. haha but after watching your videos, I feel like maybe I should try again. thanks. 🙂

just a suggestion though, is it possible for you to make a classification for your recipes in terms of difficulty? like, recipes recommended for newbies, intermediate, advance, etc? it would really make it easier for me (and for other cooking dummies as well) to know which recipes to practice on first. Asking lang naman, hindi naman nagde-demand. 😛

    Great site, thanks. 🙂

I’m newly married and I’m now learning how to cook for me and my hubby. It’s tough because both my mom and his are really good cooks. Your site is great and has helped me a lot. It has the most reliable and easy to understand recipes, and the taste of the food is truly pinoy. Cooked this recipe tonight, using lean ground beef, with peas, and without the eggs (not used to eating it with giniling, maybe someday). My hubby loved it!!! Although he was looking for the raisins. Thanks a lot for sharing your recipes. They’re invaluable to someone like me! 🙂

Can I use ground turkey instead with the beef or pork cube? Trying to see if there is a way to reduce the fat content by using ground turkey. Thanks again for another great recipe!

Sure John, less fat is better. Personally, I would use chicken instead since turkey tastes a little bland. That is just me; try whatever satisfies you. Hope this helps.
