You might be familiar with the greatly popular meal combination called “Surf and turf.” This is where you put some seafood and meat in a perfectly balanced dish duo, ranging from steak and lobster to some fish with chicken. But another cuisine collaboration with the same appeal that you should be taking notice of as well is the ever delicious Shrimp Bisque and Clubhouse sandwich.
I love the partnership we get from these two because alongside the creaminess of our seafood soup, we have our satisfying layers of ham, cheddar cheese and lettuce. With the refreshing taste of our clubhouse complementing the rich bisque, we truly get a flavor force to be reckoned with. And while separately, they might make a tasty snack, together, they are able to create a pretty hearty meal.
One of the best parts about this meal is that despite how it’s made of two dishes, both have pretty simple steps. If you’re only beginning to learn how to cook, this should be a great recipe to start off with! And you’ll wind up having learned not one, but two delicious recipes.
The history of the Shrimp Bisque, and the Clubhouse Sandwich:
They truly make for a great collaboration also because of how different but well-matched their ingredients are. But the contrast isn’t just in their components. Their origins are actually pretty far from each other. The bisque is a soup we purée with a seafood ingredient that often dominates its flavor palate gracefully. It also has a creamy factor that makes it all the more appealing.
And as for its name, there are different takes behind “bisque.” Some have said that it comes from the Bay of Biscay, which has a great deal of shellfish. Others have theorized that it comes from the process that leads to the bisque being made. After all, the word “bis,” means “again” or “twice,” and the word “cuites,” means “cooked.” This could be referring to how the usual cooking method for this would entail roasting the shills, and then letting them heat up for your broth.
Meanwhile, people have said that the clubhouse or the club sandwich’s name came from the place it was born. Some have said that it was first made in Saratoga Club House in New York. But for this recipe, we are pulling these favorites together to make an ultimately satisfying meal. So what are you waiting for? Let’s get started!
How to make Shrimp Bisque and Clubhouse Sandwich:
Shrimp Bisque recipe:
We’ll begin by crafting our brilliantly savory seafood soup by pouring 800 ml of water in a cooking pot. Also add 60 g of Knorr Shrimp Bisque inside, and mix this thoroughly. Now cover your pot, and let this heat up. You can start stirring the mixture when you notice it starting to bubble. Keep stirring until it begins to boil.
Afterwards, you should let this cook for 2 minutes, or at least until you get the nice velvetiness for your Shrimp Bisque. Then you can transfer this to your bowl of choice. To top this off, we’ll be pouring 1 ½ tablespoons of heavy cream. But you also have the choice of omitting this if you don’t have any heavy cream onhand, or are looking for less creaminess for the soup. Now that we finished our Shrimp Bisque, we can move on to our semi-sweet and savory sandwich!
Clubhouse Sandwich recipe:
Start this out by taking your 3 slices of bread, and toasting it. Then get your 3 tablespoons of Lady’s Choice Mayonnaise ready. Spread this all over one side of your first bread slice, but leave enough for the rest of your bread. Put 1 slice of ham, cheddar cheese and turkey deli, as well as 1 leaf of lettuce on top of this. Afterwards, place some mayonnaise on each side of the next slice of bread. Place it on top of the turkey slice, and then add 6 slices of bacon, 1 leaf of lettuce, 1 large tomato slice, and 1 slice of cheddar cheese.
We’ll wrap this up by putting some mayonnaise on the last slice of bread. Then with the side without mayonnaise facing the top, put this over your sandwich. Slice the entire sandwich in half, and then serve it alongside your delightful Shrimp Bisque!
A similar recipe I can recommend:
Now if you enjoyed this dish, I could also recommend my Quick Roast Beef Sandwich as a great recipe to try out for yourself. Like our clubhouse, it puts meat, lettuce and mayonnaise together to make for a perfectly flavorful sandwich! But this dish definitely boasts some complex flavors as well with its share of fresh rosemary, as well as our tender deli roast beef. And just like our main recipe, it’s quick and simple. You won’t have to fuss around the kitchen too much to make yourself a satisfying meal.
