Beef Kebab is one of those dishes that instantly turn an ordinary day into something special. I like making it when I feel like grilling but don’t want anything complicated. The aroma of marinated beef hitting the hot grill always makes me hungry. I usually enjoy this with garlic fried rice because the rice soaks up the flavorful juices perfectly. Add some fresh salad on the side, and you’ve got a meal that feels hearty and satisfying.

Getting to Know Beef Kebab

Beef Kebab features cubes of marinated beef tenderloin, grilled alongside vegetables for a mix of textures and flavors. The marinade has soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and a bit of sugar for sweetness. It’s simple, but it gives a balanced flavor that works beautifully with the char from the grill.

You can use other beef cuts too, but tenderloin cooks quickly and stays tender, making it ideal for skewers. What I enjoy most about making kebabs is how customizable they are. You can mix in bell peppers, onions, or even mushrooms. I often prepare a quick fruit salad afterward to add a sweet and refreshing finish to the meal.

Ingredients

For the Beef and Marinade

  • Beef tenderloin, cubed – tender and juicy, ideal for grilling
  • Light soy sauce – adds savory depth
  • Minced ginger – provides a sharp, aromatic note
  • Minced garlic – enhances overall flavor
  • Sesame oil – adds nutty aroma
  • Olive oil – prevents the beef from drying out
  • Granulated white sugar – balances saltiness with a touch of sweetness
  • Rice wine vinegar – adds mild tanginess
  • Salt and ground black pepper – for seasoning

For the Skewers

  • Red bell pepper, sliced – adds sweetness and color
  • Green bell pepper, sliced – adds freshness and mild bitterness
  • Red onion, sliced – gives natural sweetness and aroma

How to Make Beef Kebob

  1. Make the marinade
Combine soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, olive oil, sugar, salt, and pepper in a large bowl. Mix well.
  2. Marinate the beef
Add cubed beef to the marinade and coat evenly. Cover and refrigerate for at least one hour to absorb all the flavors.
  3. Prepare the skewers
Alternate beef cubes with bell peppers and onions on skewers. Leave small gaps between pieces to ensure even cooking.
  4. Preheat the grill
Heat your grill or grill pan over medium heat. Lightly brush with oil to prevent sticking.
  5. Grill the beef
Cook for about three minutes per side or until the edges caramelize. Adjust time depending on how done you like your beef.
  6. Serve
Transfer to a plate and let rest briefly. Enjoy with garlic rice or a fresh vegetable side dish.

Pro Tips

Follow these tips to make your Beef Kebab tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked every time:

  • Cut beef cubes evenly for consistent cooking.
  • Soak wooden skewers in water before grilling to avoid burning.
  • Avoid flipping the skewers too often; let one side char before turning.
  • Use leftover marinade (after boiling) as a glaze while grilling.
  • Rest the kebabs before serving to keep them juicy.

Beef Kebab goes perfectly with simple side dishes. I love pairing it with pancit canton for something filling and flavorful. A serving of garlic rice works well too, and a cold glass of calamansi juice finishes the meal nicely. If you’re having a family cookout, grilled corn or vegetable salad also adds freshness to the plate.

  • 1 lb. beef tenderloin cubed
  • 1/4 cup light soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon minced ginger
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon granulated white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons rice wine vinegar
  • 1 medium red bell pepper sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper sliced
  • 1 medium red onion sliced
  • A few dashes of salt and ground black pepper

Instructions

  • Make the beef tenderloin marinade by combining soy sauce, vinegar, ginger, garlic, sesame oil, olive oil, sugar, salt, and ground black pepper in a large bowl. Mix well.
  • Add the cubed beef tenderloin on the bowl with the beef tenderloin marinade. Gently toss to coat the beef. Let it stay for 1 hour.
  • Using a metal or bamboo skewer, assemble the beef kebob by skewering the vegetables and marinated beef tenderloin.
